How to Reset Your iPhone Password
Forgot your password? Apple recommends restoring your iPhone by connecting it to your computer. This process erases all of your information by resetting your phone back to factory settings so you can enter a new password. This process puts your iPhone in recovery mode. Follow these easy steps to change your iPhone password:
Step 1Before making any updates, always make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
Step 2Turn off your iPhone by pressing and holding the Sleep button until Slide to power off pops up.
Step 3Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone then simultaneously plug it back into the computer.
Step 4When your iPhone begins to restart, keep holding the Home button until a recovery mode message appears. It looks like a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside.
Step 5In the iTunes menu, scroll to your iPhone and click Restore under the Summary tab.
Step 6The phone is now back to factory settings so all of your information including your old password, is gone.
Step 7You can now restore it from backup to put all of your information back on your iPhone.
If you are still worried about security, you can also set your iPhone to erase all of your personal data after ten consecutive incorrect password attempts. You can turn this feature on by going to Settings, General, then Passcode Lock.
