How to Update Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to iOS 7

iOS 7 is compatible with the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, the iPad 2,3,4 and iPad mini, and the iPod Touch 5th Generation. The 2013 model iPhones (5C and 5S) and iPads already have it installed. If your device is compatible, follow these quick steps to update.

Backup Your Data

Backup your device before downloading iOS 7. Tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. Turn on the iCloud Backup and tap Back Up Now. This will prevent you from losing any data in case something goes wrong, like losing Internet connection, during the download.

Install iOS 7 Through Settings

Make sure you have more than half your battery charge remaining and that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. When iOS 7 is available, you'll be notified on the Settings app. Open Settings > General > Software Update.

Tap Download and when prompted tap install. Your download could take 30 minutes to an hour. When finished, you should see a screen welcoming you to the new operating system.

You're all set. Enjoy using iOS 7 and all the new features.
